About Cedar Grove

Cedar Grove Retreat was first developed in the 1940’s by the Girl Scouts of America. In 2001 First Assembly of Concord purchased it and converted it into a full-service Christian camp, providing camping and outdoor experiences to churches and other ministry organizations throughout the Carolinas. After years of service to the Christian community, the camp was purchased by a private foundation. Today, Cedar Grove Retreat not only provides timeless outdoor camping experiences for churches and ministries, it also delivers leadership/ministry training, team building, at-risk student development, father/son retreats, banquet hosting, and more.

Kelvin Whiting

Kelvin WhitingCamp Manager

Kelvin is very patient and has a servant’s heart, which is why he loves working with people. He loves using the outdoors as a gateway for facilitating programming with Cedar Grove. Kelvin grew up with Lenny as his mentor, since early middle school, being one of the “guinea pigs” for Lenny’s Wide Open Outdoor Ministry. Since then he started as an intern and is now a full-time worker. Lenny has had such an impact on Kelvin’s life, he has continued to purse the outdoors way of life. He now loves going hiking, backpacking, kayaking, climbing and belaying. Although he’s not been very keen on jumping off 40ft rocks…
