Staff Overview

When to arrive for work

All staff will arrive on Saturday, June 30th at 9am.  We will spend the day going over the camp schedule and procedures as well as team building activities.

Camp staff can leave for the weekends in between camps

Location

Cedar Grove Retreat is located 30 minutes north of Charlotte.  If coming from Charlotte, take I-85 North to Exit 63.  Take a right at the top of the ramp onto Lane St.  At the next traffic light, turn right onto Old Salisbury-Concord Rd.  Go about a mile and turn right onto Camp Julia Rd.  Travel about half a mile and Cedar Grove will be on your left.

2011 Schedule

Week 1 “The Race week 1” July 1 – 6, Rising 7^th - 10^th graders

Week 2 “The Race week 2” July 8 – 13, Rising 7^th - 10^th graders

Week 3 “The Quest” July 16 – 20, Rising 4^th - 6^th graders, Day camp will also be this week Rising 1st – 4th grade

Spiritual Focus

Cedar Grove Summer Camp is geared to help kids have a great camp experience while pointing them to Christ.  It is also our desire to see our staff grow in their relationship with Christ while serving here.

Positions Available

5 male counselors - majority of time will be spent with your male campers

5 female counselors - majority of time will be spent with your female campers

1 Lifeguard/kitchen staff  – will split time between lifeguarding and kitchen work

1 Worship Leader/Service coordinator - will lead worship and also plan the worship service

1 Kitchen Staff - will help in all meal preparation

1 Media Specialist  - will take care of media for worship services and take pictures and video the days events

1 Paintball Coordinator/Maintenance/Odd jobs - will be in charge of paintball and also odd jobs around camp

*Please note that these are very loose job descriptions.  They are meant to give you an idea of what is required for each position.  All staff will be used in many different areas so we ask that you be willing to be flexible. 

Compensation

Every staff position is paid the same wage.  All staff will receive $175/week.  Cedar Grove Summer Camp will also provide your lodging and all meals.  Camp staff will also receive a camp t-shirt.

Living Arrangements

All counselors will stay in cabins with their campers.  Beds are set up in bunks.  Their will be 2 counselors for every cabin.  All other staff will be housed on campus.

Where the campers are coming from

Many of our campers will be coming from the surrounding areas of Kannapolis and Concord and the Charlotte region.

What to bring

-        Sleeping bag or sheets for twin size mattress

-        Towels

-        Bathing suit (one piece and modest)
